Home EV chargers: brands and installation quotes

Choose a charger brand to see its models and specifications, check what installation costs and what your area's rules allow, then compare quotes from up to 3 local installers.

What EV charger installation costs

National ranges the NRMA published in July 2026, as a guide only. Your cable run and switchboard decide the final price.

  • Portable cable from a power point

Around $400 to $600 for the cable if your car didn't come with one, and $200 to $1,000 if you need a new dedicated outlet installed.

  • Single-phase wall charger

$600 to $2,500 for the charger, plus $500 to $1,500 for installation in a typical home.

  • Three-phase wall charger

Around $1,500 to $2,200 for the charger. The bigger cost is the electrical work, especially if your home needs upgrading to three-phase power.

Leasing an EV? The tax deadline is 31 March 2027

Leasing an EV through work? The full fringe benefits tax exemption for electric cars on novated leases continues until 31 March 2027.

From 1 April 2027, the full exemption is proposed only for electric cars costing $75,000 or less, with a smaller discount above that. This was announced in the 2026–27 Budget and isn't law yet. Existing leases aren't affected.

If a lease is on the way, it's worth getting charger quotes now so the charger is in before the car arrives. Ask your lease provider whether a charger can be included.
