How it works
Step 1: Tell us about your property
Answer a few simple questions about what you're interested in, your property and your electricity use.
Step 2: We match your requirements
Energy Quotes reviews your request and matches it to participating installers who service your location and offer what you need.
Step 3: Compare your options
Up to 3 suitable participating Australian installers contact you. Compare what they recommend — there's no obligation.
What to compare in solar quotes
- The exact panel, inverter and battery brands and models
- System size (kW for solar, kWh of usable capacity for batteries)
- Product and workmanship warranties — and who honours them
- What's included: switchboard work, monitoring, metering changes, removal of old equipment
- Any rebates or incentives already deducted, and how they were calculated
- Installation timeframe and who does the installation
- The installer's accreditation and licence details
Why quotes differ
Two installers can look at the same roof and recommend different systems. They may size it differently for your usage, choose different panels or inverters, or plan for a future battery.
Differences in what's included — switchboard upgrades, monitoring, tilt frames on flat roofs — can also change the price. Comparing quotes line by line is the clearest way to understand them.
Frequently asked questions
What size solar system do I need?
It depends on how much electricity you use, when you use it, your roof space and orientation, and whether you plan to add a battery or an EV. Installers size the system after looking at your bills and roof — which is why comparing a few quotes helps.
Does my roof need to face north?
North-facing panels generally produce the most across the day in Australia, but east- and west-facing roofs can work well too, especially if you use more power in the morning or late afternoon.
Can I add a battery later?
Usually, yes. Ask each installer whether the inverter they're quoting is battery-ready, or what would be needed to add a battery later.
Does Energy Quotes install solar or batteries?
No. Energy Quotes is an independent quote-comparison service. We connect you with participating installers, who provide their own quotes and carry out the installation. Your contract is with the installer you choose.
What information should I have ready?
A rough idea of your electricity bill, whether you already have solar (and roughly how big it is), and when you'd like the system installed. A recent power bill is handy when installers call.
