Fox ESS was founded in 2019 and is headquartered in Wenzhou, China. It makes solar, hybrid and micro inverters, batteries, EV chargers and heat pumps, and opened an Australian branch in 2023.

Choosing a Fox ESS battery installer
- Accreditation: the installer must be accredited by Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) for batteries, or the battery won't qualify for the federal discount. Ask for their accreditation number.
- The exact model: check the quoted Fox ESS model is on the approved list above, with its usable capacity in kWh.
- The inverter: Fox ESS makes inverters too. Ask whether the battery is paired with a Fox ESS inverter or a compatible one from another brand, and confirm it can join a virtual power plant (VPP), which the federal discount requires.
