Choosing a Redback battery installer
- Accreditation: the installer must be accredited by Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) for batteries, or the battery won't qualify for the federal discount. Ask for their accreditation number.
- The exact model: check the quoted Redback model is on the approved list above, with its usable capacity in kWh.
- The inverter: Redback makes inverters too. Ask whether the battery is paired with a Redback inverter or a compatible one from another brand, and confirm it can join a virtual power plant (VPP), which the federal discount requires.
- Backup: ask what keeps running in a blackout and whether backup costs extra.
- Warranty: ask how the Redback warranty is registered, what capacity it guarantees, and who to call if something goes wrong.
- The discount: the federal discount should be shown as its own line on the quote, so you can compare quotes fairly.
