Approval means a product meets the standards needed to be installed with government small-scale technology certificates (STCs). It isn't a recommendation, and Energy Quotes doesn't rank products. Check the manufacturer's datasheet and ask your installer before you buy.

Discounts are indicative: certificates for the usable capacity at the rate for today's date, at $38 each. Your installer's quote shows the actual amount. Work it out for your date and size.

About Neovolt

Neovolt is a home energy storage brand of Bytewatt Technology, a manufacturer based in Suzhou, China. It makes home battery systems and hybrid inverters.

Battery suspensions (September–October 2026)
The Clean Energy Council suspended several NEOVOLT battery models from its approved list on 15 September 2026 for not complying with its listing terms and conditions; it says the decision wasn't based on a recall or an identified safety issue. The suspension was lifted for the BW-BAT-9.6P on 7 October 2026, but only units whose nameplate shows a working voltage range of DC 90 V – 105.6 V, a maximum continuous charge and discharge current of DC 52.5 A and the battery designation IFpP52/161/120/[(10S)3S]E/-10+50/90 are eligible for STCs. The BW-BAT-9.6P I to VI variants remain suspended, and BW-BAT-9.6P batteries installed from 15 September to 6 October 2026 aren't eligible. The manufacturer has until 14 December 2026 to complete corrective actions for the remaining models.

Choosing a Neovolt battery installer

  • Accreditation: the installer must be accredited by Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) for batteries, or the battery won't qualify for the federal discount. Ask for their accreditation number.
  • The exact model: check the quoted Neovolt model is on the approved list above, with its usable capacity in kWh.
  • The inverter: ask which inverter the battery connects to, confirm it can join a virtual power plant (VPP), which the federal discount requires.
  • Backup: ask what keeps running in a blackout and whether backup costs extra.
  • Warranty: ask how the Neovolt warranty is registered, what capacity it guarantees, and who to call if something goes wrong.
  • The discount: the federal discount should be shown as its own line on the quote, so you can compare quotes fairly.
